Visit The San Diego Natural History Museum

The San Diego Natural History Museum is the oldest scientific institution in Southern California and the third oldest west of the Mississippi. Located in San Diego's famous Balboa Park, this museum is on a mission to promote an understanding of the evolution and diversity of Southern California and Baja California. The San Diego Natural History Museum illustrates the natural world via research, education and incredible exhibits. Their goal is to inspire in everyone who visits the museum a respect for the environment. 


Currently, the San Diego Natural History Museum houses a variety of exhibits that can't be missed. Today,  Monday, February 6, 2012, the museum is hosting different events promoting their exhibits these include: All that Glitters: The Splendor & Science of Gems & Minerals at 10am, Sharks 3D at 11am, Ocean Oasis at 12pm, and Sea Rex 3D: Journey to a Prehistoric World.

The San Diego Museum of Art at Balboa Park


Museum Mondays: The San Diego Museum of Art


The The San Diego Museum of Art located in Balboa Park is the oldest and largest museum in the region. This museum houses European old masters, 19th and 20th century American art, an encyclopedic Asian collections, and collections of contemporary and Latin American art. The San Diego Museum of Art has changing art exhibitions from around the world as well as presents educational and cultural programs.
Upcoming events for the San Diego Museum of Art include Experiments in abstraction: Art in Southern California, Walk from the Sun: Photographs of Southern California and Mexican Modern Painting from the Andres Blaisten Collection on January 10th at 10am.

Free Admission to a Culturally Enriching Experience: Timken Museum of Art

Looking for a local culturally enriching experience? Then visit the Timken Museum of Art located in San Diego’s gorgeous Balboa Park. The Timken Museum is considered one of the great small museums in the world because it houses the Putnam Foundation Collection of European old Master paintings, American Paintings, and Russian icons. Represented in the museum are artists such as Rembrandt, Rubens, Fragonard, Bierstadt, Pieter Bruegel the Elder, John Singleton Copley, and Eastman Johnson. 

The Timken Museum of Art is open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-4:30pm, Sunday 1:30pm-4:30pm and is closed Mondays and major holidays. Admission to the museum is always free! Visit the Timken Museum of Art!

Veteran’s Museum and Memorial Center




Museum Mondays:  Balboa Park Museums Series

Located in Balboa Park in the Old Navy Chapel, the Veteran’s Museum and Memorial Center honors the memory of men and women in the Armed Forces, Coast Guard and Wartime Merchant Marines. This Memorial Center preserves documents, photographs, artifacts and other memorabilia from the Civil War to the present. The exhibitions change to highlight the accomplishments and experiences of San Diego veterans throughout history.

 Interested in learning more about the experiences of the veterans highlighted in this museum; then come enjoy a living history tour by the veterans who have been part of the action!

 The Veteran’s Museum and Memorial Center in San Diego’s Balboa Park is truly home to all veteran groups as it covers history of all branches of service.
